Telus Blocking Union Website TWU Local 207

It looks like the union and Telus have locked horns resulting in the Canadian ISP blocking the union’s website. Telus claims they blocked the website after the union attempted to harass and intimidate workers by posting pictures of employees who crossed the picket line. The union feels that it is unfair for Telus to block access to their website and the fight rolls on.

Telus feels that all employees that cross the picket line, should and will get a free ipod ? WTF

He also said that, by posting photos of staff and managers crossing picket lines, the website threatened the safety of non-union employees. "They had no right to post that information," said McArthur. "We have a responsibility to protect our employees from harassment and intimidation.

Customers who use telus.net as their Internet Service Provider are unable to access this website due to censorship by TELUS. When support was called on July 23, they claimed not to be blocking access. Numerous TV, radio and print media have picked up this story, after receiving calls from outraged TWU members. The story will become national when Global National airs a story tonight. TELUS has since admitted to blocking this site, although support was still denying the blocking after the fact.
