Thirsty | What Causes Thirst?

What causes thirst? Our healthy body demands the fluid replacement and lets us know relentlessly until we succumb to the desire to drink and satisfy our craving.

Sodas and tea is not a good replacement for water. The caffeine in these drinks is a diuretic and will increase urination causing a loss in body fluids.

Thirst is the basic need or instinct of humans or animals to drink. It arises from a lack of fluids and/or an increase in the concentration of certain osmolites such as salt. If the water volume of the body falls below a certain threshold, or the osmolite concentration becomes too high, the brain signals thirst.
