Chuck Norris Sues Over Internet Fact Book
Tough-guy actor and martial arts expert Chuck Norris sued publisher Penguin on Friday over a book he claims unfairly exploits his famous name, based on a satirical Internet list of "mythical facts" about him.
It includes such humorous "facts" as "Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried" and "Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits," the suit said, as well as "Chuck Norris can charge a cell phone by rubbing it against his beard."
WWCND (What Would CHuck Norris Do?)
Extreme Sleeping
Like any extreme activity, it requires the nerves of steel, good choice of timing, location and the absence of suspicious cops. All this however is easier to achieve, because you are, well... asleep, so you can trust the unseen powers to take care of the rest. Long & restful sleep is by no means guaranteed, but perhaps somebody will take your picture and you'll wake up famous.

First Look! 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
We have the technology inside General Motors to do a car that can go up against any supercar from around the world," he continues, punctuating the thought with this threat: "I can't wait to take on any Porsche with this car, and we're going to be right in there with the Ferrari [599s] and Lamborghini [Murcielagos]." Whoa, ease off the Red Bull, Tom.
Circuit City's Holidays Not So Happy
Circuit City posted a steep quarterly loss and warned that the losses will continue into the current quarter. Oddly enough the CEO said he was very dissatisfied with the company’s third quarter results and said the losses were pretty much “self-induced.”
"We are very dissatisfied with our third quarter results," Circuit City CEO Philip J. Schoonover said in a statement, adding that the company saw fewer sales of profitable items like accessories, services, and extended warranties. "We believe that these issues are primarily self-induced and are within our control to improve," he said.
Lakota Indians Withdraw from Treaties Signed in 1858
The Lakota Indians, who gave the world legendary warriors Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from treaties with the United States.
"We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,'' long-time Indian rights activist Russell Means said.
A delegation of Lakota leaders has delivered a message to the State Department, and said they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the U.S., some of them more than 150 years old.

New Windshield 3-D Navigation System
The actual tech behind this “virtual cable” displayed on the windshield of your car is kinda cool. The thought of driving somewhere with a person that needs something like this is scary as hell.
Our invention, called Virtual Cable™ is a unique display for a car navigation system. The driver sees the Virtual Cable™ image through the windshield. It appears as if suspended over the road, similar to a trolley cable. The image is in true 3D and appears to be a natural part of the landscape. The driver uses only peripheral vision to follow the Virtual Cable™.

Behind Nintendo, was the Microsoft XBox 360, with 770,000 consoles sold, and the Sony Playstation 3, with 460,000 units sold, less-than half of Nintendo's figure.
$9100 for Guitar Hero 3
A kid gets caught smoking pot, so his father decides to take away his Christmas present, an unopened Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii. Nothing too surprising about this. The father decides to put the thing up on sale on eBay, complete with the story of why it is up there. Next thing you know, the dad sells this thing for $9,100.01.

Asus Bamboo PC Is Eco-Friendly
Back in 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the Apple I, an early personal computer that consisted of a circuit board in a simple wooden box.
The Asus Eco Book, as it's dubbed, has a case made of laminated bamboo strips available in different shades.
Harvesting bamboo, an abundant, flexible, durable and fast-growing grass, is unlikely to harm the environment as processing wood from trees might, Asustek said, although glues and laminates for shaping and fortifying the material sometimes contain toxins.

CompUSA Sends Out Layoff Letters
Would you check out this layoff slip CompUSA sent around? We know we shouldn't expect their director of HR to get all blubbery or anything, but it's like the corporation really is as soulless as it gets credit for.
Like, you're really going to sit in your office in Texas and write a hundred word letter that instantly puts thousands of people out of a job, and the best you can do is "We thank you for your service to CompUSA, Inc."?

Christmas card arrives 93 years late
A postcard featuring a color drawing of Santa Claus and a young girl was mailed in 1914, but its journey was slower than Christmas. It just arrived in northwest Kansas.
The Christmas card was dated December 23, 1914, and mailed to Ethel Martin of Oberlin, apparently from her cousins in Alma, Nebraska.

RIAA Says Personal Copies Are “Unauthorized”
You are not going to believe this one. The RIAA claims that copying your legally purchased CD to your PC is an infringement. Huh?!?! I am quite literally astounded that there hasn’t been a national uprising against these guys by now...or at the very least, a nationwide music boycott to send a message loud and clear that we are not giving up our rights to fair use.
Welcome to Wal*Mart
I pulled into the crowded parking lot at the Super Wal-MartShopping Center and rolled down the car windows to make sure my Labrador Retriever pup had fresh air. She was stretched full-out on the back seat and I wanted to impress upon her that she must remain there.
I walked to the curb backward, pointing my finger at th ecar and saying emphatically, "Now you stay. Do you hear me?" "Stay! Stay!"
The driver of a nearby car, a pretty blonde young lady, gave me a strange look and said, "Why don't you just put it in park?"

“w00t” Picked As Word Of The Year
Merriam-Webster has named “w00t” word of the year. No, I am not kidding and yes, this is one of the six signs of the apocalypse.
Massachusetts-based Merriam-Webster Inc. said "w00t" -- typically spelled with two zeros -- reflects a new direction in the American language led by a generation raised on video games and cell phone text-messaging.

Did Iceland Teen Call Secret White House Phone?
When Vífill Atlason, a 16-year-old high school student from Iceland, decided to call the White House, he could not imagine the kind of publicity it would bring.
Introducing himself as Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, the actual president of Iceland, Atlason found what he believed to be President George W. Bush's allegedly secret telephone number and phoned, requesting a private meeting with him.
"I just wanted to talk to him, have a chat, invite him to Iceland and see what he'd say," Vífill told ABC News.
MPK Co's Litroenergy Glows for 12 years
Litroenergy is a new type of material that emits light for 12 years without needing electricity or sun exposure. The self-luminous micro-particles are called Litrospheres and are said to be non-toxic and inexpensive. The light is said to be equivalent to a 20 watt incandescent bulb (lumens please?).
The litrospheres give off a continuous illumination, and can be designed to glow in any color. They can be injection molded or added to paint. The company that invented the material, MPK Co., predicts that first applications of Litroenergy will be in safety equipment such as safety tape and life rafts. Currently, the cost to light up a 8 ½ x 11 piece of plastic 1/8” thick is about 35 cents.
Commodore 64 Turning 25
After twenty five years, the Commodore 64 is still loved by many. You know, it seems like just yesterday that they were all the rage, doesn’t it? Hard to believe it has been a quarter of a century.
On Monday, the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, will celebrate the C64's 25th anniversary. Computer pioneers will reflect on the C64's achievements and contribution to the industry. Jack Tramiel, the founder and CEO of Commodore, will attend, along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and William C. Lowe, father of the IBM PC.
Gold Pill makes your poop glitter for $425
If you've got so much money that you're just looking for new ways to waste it, Tobias Wong and Ju$t Another Rich Kid created the Gold Pill for you. It's a pill dipped in gold and filled with 24-karat gold leaf.
You're supposed to eat it "to increase your self-worth." That would be funny if it didn't cost $425 for the joke. Supposedly an added benefit is that it will make your poop sparkle, but no one seems to have proven that part yet (and if you do, please don't send us the pictures).
This is either genius social commentary or a brilliant way to bilk rich people out of their money. If Wong's name sounds familiar, it's probably because he also created the $2,000 ccPhone.

“Now that I’m sober, I wanted a new physical state to go along with my new mental state,” said Carey. “I thought the auction would be a great way to spread some holiday cheer and to make sure someone out there has a Mary Mary Christmas.”
CompUSA To Close All Stores After Holidays
After closing half of its stores earlier this year in an attempt to stay afloat, CompUSA is throwing in the towel. Last night, it announced that it will be closing all 103 remaining locations after holiday sales to reduce inventory.
Started in 1984, the death of CompUSA marks the end of an era for B&M computer retailers who are increasingly unable to compete with big-box stores like Best Buy. Keep an eye out for Possible [H]ot Deals from the liquidation.

Why does the sun darken skin but lighten hair?
Sun darkens skin because it triggers the production of melanin, a brownish-black pigment that helps filter out harmful ultraviolet rays. It lightens hair because the UV light triggers the breakdown of these selfsame melanin molecules into simpler and evidently less colorful compounds.
The exact mechanism by which this is accomplished is not as clear as it might be. “The ionic pathway probably begins by nucleophilic attack of the peroxide anion on the o-quinone grouping,” says one medical text, clearly written by the kind of guy you wouldn’t want to have season tickets next to at the ballgame.
The melanin in both skin and hair is meant to protect the other tissue, but in skin it’s renewed (and thus the skin gets darker) whereas in hair it’s not, since hair is no longer living.
MTV To Put South Park Online For Free
In a move paralleling the online archiving of The Daily Show, Viacom subsidiary MTV has announced their intention to put all of South Park online, for free. It's well known among fans that Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, have publicly encouraged downloading of their show from whatever source.
This move would legitimize such activities, and undoubtedly generate advertising revenue. My question is, won't this cut into their DVD boxset sales? Since The Daily Show isn't released in that format, it was a non-issue, but not so for South Park.
