Interactive Guide To What People Buy

The New York Times has a cool interactive map that shows what different countries spend their discretionary income on (per capita). Contrary to conventional thinking, the Japanese use most of their extra money on recreation and alcohol, people in Australia buy a lot of tech gadgets and Americans spend money on just about everything.
